Therapy can be intimidating. I get it. But you're in the driver's seat here. As we work together to treat the root cause of your emotional distress,  you'll find an enhanced capacity to become the best version of yourself.

How can I help?

FAQs

How much does therapy cost? Do you offer a sliding scale?
My current rate is $125 per 50-minute individual psychotherapy session. However, I do offer a sliding scale, meaning there's some flexibility in that number. I also provide a Good Faith Estimate so you won't have any surprises.
Do you take insurance? If not, why?
I don't accept insurance. However, I'm happy to provide 'superbills' for you to give to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Contact your insurance provider to ask about their out-of-network benefits.
Do you offer therapy in-person?

No, I currently only see California residents virtually through a secure online platform. While not ideal for everyone, online therapy has its merits. We can even do EMDR online.
Are you licensed?
I am currently registered as an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC#14870) in California meaning that I am authorized to provide full services under the supervision of Erin Osanna-Barba, LCSW# 101251 to California residents.
How do I know if I need therapy?
In my experience, most everyone could use mental health counseling from time to time. Most of the people I work with do tend to have adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) that contribute to their presenting concerns. If you suspect this might be the case for you, therapy might be beneficial.
Do you do counseling with couples, families or children?
No, I generally work with individual adults. However, I'm happy to refer you to another clinician.

How long does therapy take?

Short answer: it depends. Sessions typically begin on a weekly basis and can last as long as needed. However, as treatment progresses, we will adjust our frequency based on your needs and goals.

How do I know you're the right therapist for me?
Excellent question. Consider checking out my newsletter to get a sense of who I am. You can also schedule an initial consultation. It's free and a great opportunity to see if I'm the right fit for you.
Is therapy really confidential?

Generally speaking, yes. I won't release any information without written consent from you. However, there are some exceptions where I'm required or permitted by law:

  • Reporting child, elder and dependent adult abuse
  • when the client (you) makes a serious threat of violence towards a reasonably identifiable victim
  • when the client (you) is dangerous to him/herself or the person or property of another
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please do so with 24 hours notice to avoid penalty. Otherwise, you'll be subject to the full fee for that session.
Do you have a privacy policy?
Yes, here is my privacy policy.
What's therapy like?
First of all, you're the boss here. I'm working for you. But generally I like to focus on treating the root cause of your emotional distress. Our therapeutic relationship is critical to healing so if there's anything that isn't working, let me know so we can address it together.
